Corinna Moebius Profiled in New Urban Planning Book
Becoming an Urban PlannerBordercross president Corinna Moebius is one of the planners profiled in Becoming an Urban Planner: A Guide to Careers in Planning and Urban Design.

Bordercross Enterprises, LLC (Bordercross) is a social enterprise and small, woman-owned business that seeks to make it easier for people of all backgrounds to (re)connect with land and place, food and cultural traditions, and community, participatory arts.

We are a new iteration of Bordercross Communications, which was founded in 1997, and have grown from a consulting practice into a new kind of business (although we still do limited consulting). We have reinvented our business into one that uses a variety of creative means to engage folks in thinking about and connecting with the places they care about.

Our new services:

  • Little Havana Tours: We offer walking tours of Little Havana that emphasize local cultural and spiritual traditions, foods and folkways; historic and current conflicts over public space; and exciting grassroots projects related to preserving and sustaining local places and traditions.
  • BordercrossMiami.com -- An Alternative Guide to Miami: Our guide to Miami: BordercrossMiami.com. This guide can help you discover the Miami beyond beaches, shopping malls and nightclubs, and includes categories such as "Grow Local", "Eat Local," and "Cultural Traditions." Both residents and visitors can also post comments, photos of favorite places, and tips on places, activities and opportunities to include in the guide.

We still offer consulting, but on a limited basis. As consultants, we assist clients in developing urban initiatives, events and programming that balance economic, health, cultural and environmental benefits. We help clients reach, engage and build bridges and trust (social capital) among diverse local stakeholders: businesses, residents and civic groups, community-based organizations, property owners, local officials and government agencies.

The rest of this site focuses on our consulting and training services in the following areas:

  • Public participation and stakeholder collaboration
  • Visioning and strategic planning
  • Arts and culture district and cultural tourism development
  • Business (and community-based organization) retention & recruitment
  • Small business and community-based organization assistance
  • Festival, event and promotion strategies (including online marketing and social networking)

Our clients include staff and board members of community and economic development programs, business owners and property managers, city and county agencies, and civic groups.
